Asthma, a condition in which airways become inflamed and swollen, is another condition historically treated by forskolin. It turns out that these benefits are very real indeed. Traditionally, asthma is treated by steroidal inhalers or cromoglicic acid, a non-steroidal inhaler, as well as various anti-inflammatory drugs and bronchodilators — the latter of which is used for emergency treatment to open airways during an asthma attack.

The most talked about natural weight loss duo is finally here! Two powerful fat burning plants have been combined to produce a instant fat burning solution the natural way. The first plant Turmeric of the ginger family has been proven to prevent fat from forming, increase thermogenesis and greatly speed up weight loss. The second plant f the mint family that grows in Southeast Asia and India, Forskolin is a revolutionary breakthrough that has the Media in a frenzy!
Forskolin is commonly used as a tool in biochemistry to raise levels of cyclic AMP (cAMP) in the study and research of cell physiology. Forskolin activates the enzyme adenylyl cyclase and increases intracellular levels of cAMP. cAMP is an important second messenger necessary for the proper biological response of cells to hormones and other extracellular signals. It is required for cell communication in the hypothalamus/pituitary gland axis and for the feedback control of hormones via induction of corticotropin-releasing factor gene transcription. Cyclic AMP acts by activating cAMP-sensitive pathways such as protein kinase A and Epac.
Thanks for all the helpful information! I appreciate how you mention both sides of the story and provide lots of links to extra data about Forskolin. I tend to agree with Anonymous above, that Dr Oz isn't exactly the most trustworthy figure. But a supplement that could potentially help with both asthma and allergies (my two biggest problems!) is something I am definitely excited to try. Looking forward to seeing more studies!

Forskolin is an extract derived from the roots of the Indian coleus (Coleus forskohlii), a tropical plant related to mint. Historically, coleus has been used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine for more than 3,000 years, and ancient Sanskrit writings indicate that it was used to help promote a healthy heart and lungs.2 Other traditional uses include treating digestive issues such as stomachache, nausea and intestinal spasm, as well as skin infections like ringworm.3

I think it’s great that forskolin seems to have other health benefits other than just helping weight loss. I think it’s important to note as well though that you should still keep a healthy lifestyle, as you touch on in the post. Of course these weight supplements can help, but it’s not a replacement for healthy eating and exercise. I think the problem surrounding these supplements is that people do try to just take them and keep an unhealthy lifestyle, which is the last thing you should be doing.
It’s natural for anyone trying to lose weight to want to lose it very quickly. But evidence shows that people who lose weight gradually and steadily (about 1 to 2 pounds per week) are more successful at keeping weight off. Healthy weight loss isn’t just about a “diet” or “program”. It’s about an ongoing lifestyle that includes long-term changes in daily eating and exercise habits.
Why are so many people still confused about this? I would not doubt that a lot of it comes down to the large number of trainers that are still perpetuating bad information. A lot of times it feels like misinformation is really much easier to come by than good information. Be a smart consumer, and make sure that you are not trusting your health to someone who knows very little about health/fitness/nutrition. Related: Top 10 Signs of a Bad Personal Trainer
Beans are an excellent source of slow-release carbohydrates, as well as a good source of protein and fiber, which slow the digestive process to help you stay fuller, longer. “Research finds that eating just three-quarters of a cup of beans a day for six weeks can help you lose close to six pounds. And if you’re trying to lower your cholesterol, it’s a double win as the soluble fiber in beans helps whisk cholesterol out of your body,” says Ansel. She also says you don’t necessarily need to cook dry beans from scratch. Canned beans are one of the most underrated convenience foods, so keep a rotation of all kinds - like black, pinto, chickpea and cannellini - in your pantry. Try adding beans to your soups and salads, add them minced to meat dishes, enjoy a bean dip like hummus, or toss them in a salad.
