Useful goals should be (1) specific; (2) attainable (doable); and (3) forgiving (less than perfect). "Exercise more" is a great goal, but it's not specific. "Walk 5 miles every day" is specific and measurable, but is it doable if you're just starting out? "Walk 30 minutes every day" is more attainable, but what happens if you're held up at work one day and there's a thunderstorm during your walking time another day? "Walk 30 minutes, 5 days each week" is specific, doable, and forgiving. In short, a great goal!
Garcinia Cambogia (GC) – Users have seen similar results when taking this supplement as with taking Forskolin. One user says she lost 25 pounds in two months on GC, which averages out to a weight loss of about three pounds a week. People using GC also report less food cravings, though you shouldn’t take Garcinia every day for a period longer than 12 weeks.

Because of the way it lowers blood pressure, those with low blood pressure already should avoid taking forskolin. Anyone currently taking beta blockers or nitrates for chest pain should also steer clear of taking this supplement. People who are pregnant, nursing, have blood disorders, are about to have or just had surgery (within two weeks), or are suffering from heart disease should not take forskolin.
But you’ll likely experience some benefit before then. Fiber helps slow down your digestion and requires more chewing, which helps signal to your body that it’s full, keeping your hunger in check throughout the day. One small study published in Food & Nutrition Research actually found that men who ate meals rich in high-fiber foods, like beans and peas, felt more satisfied than those who focused only on protein-rich foods, like pork and veal. Adult women should aim to eat 25 to 28 grams of fiber per day.
Growing evidence suggests that turmeric may help protect against Alzheimer’s disease. The main constituent of turmeric, curcumin, appears to block the progression of Alzheimer’s disease in mice. Studies of Indian populations, whose diet is rich in turmeric, show that rates of Alzheimer’s disease are very low in these groups. More research is needed to confirm or disprove the effectiveness of Turmeric for Alzheimer’s disease prevention.
Turmeric[a] is a flowering plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae, the roots of which are used in cooking. The plant is rhizomatous, herbaceous, and perennial, and is native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, and requires temperatures between 20 and 30 °C (68 and 86 °F) and a considerable amount of annual rainfall to thrive. Plants are gathered each year for their rhizomes, some for propagation in the following season and some for consumption.
Allergy protection. Forskolin’s properties that work to open airways, relieving asthma also improve pulmonary function that may be affected by allergies. In addition, there are studies that show that Forskolin may increase cAMP levels. Higher cAMP levels are associated with fewer allergy symptoms, and many medicines that are taken to combat allergies work to increase cAMP levels in the body.

There’s a reason people are obsessed with apple cider vinegar for weight loss. Some research shows that it may have very modest weight loss benefits. For instance, in one 2009 study, researchers had 144 obese adults drink a placebo or 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (ACV) daily for 3 months. They found that people who downed 2 tablespoons lost nearly 4 pounds, while those who sipped on 1 tablespoon dropped 2.5 pounds. The placebo drinkers? They actually experienced a small weight gain.
Some research suggests that forskolin may aid in weight loss and muscle building. In one very small study, overweight and obese men took 250 milligrams of a 10% forskolin extract twice a day. After 12 weeks, they lost more body fat and had a greater increase in testosterone levels compared to similar men taking a placebo. But more research must be done to confirm these results and establish its safety.
